[EXTRACT 01]
THE WORLD DOES NOT SMELL LIKE A GARDEN.
Perfume has spent centuries returning to the same beautiful places: the Mediterranean holiday, the English garden, the forest after rain.
12_things begins somewhere else.
Hot metal. Salt. Asphalt. Oxygen. Plastic. Ink. Heat. Air. Dust. Skin.
The materials of modern life. The things that keep us alive and the things we have built in order to live.
[EXTRACT 02]
12_things makes perfume from the evidence of our existence.
Each formula forces the traditional materials of fine perfumery into contact with the industrial world: orris and vinyl, iris and asphalt, ambergris and cold metal, cedarwood and static.
Beauty exists in the collision.
Cold but bodily.
Synthetic yet emotional.
Industrial but beautiful.
Sexy without being easy.
[EXTRACT 03]
The products are objects.
They are chemical, bodily and precise. Heavy enough to resist the screen. Inconvenient enough to require physical interaction.
This is not minimalism.
It is the oily weight of a machine component recovered from a scrapyard. Industrial residue refined into something permanent. Something that asks to be touched, opened and used.
[EXTRACT 04]
REGISTRATION is the first record.
Eight perfumes translate the body, the city and the machine onto skin.
I - INKSKIN
II - WHITE_DUST
III - INFRASTRUCTURE
IV - CONDENSATION
V - VACUUM
VI - INTERFERENCE
VII - COLD_STORAGE
VIII - VOID
Every formula is designed to remain unresolved.
If a perfume is too familiar, it becomes pleasant. If it becomes pleasant, you stop paying attention.
The objective is not immediate understanding.
The objective is return.
[EXTRACT 05]
FRICTION IS NOT A BAD USER EXPERIENCE.
12_things rejects the assumption that everything must be seamless.
There is no permanent open catalogue. Access is restricted. Ordering requires a conversation with another human being. The physical store refuses to reveal its products until they are requested.
Every effort is rewarded.
[EXTRACT 06]
PACKAGING IS ARCHITECTURE.
The transaction is the weapon. Commerce consumes the architecture until there is nothing left to buy and almost nothing left to see.
[EXTRACT 07]
THE BRAND HAS THE RIGHT TO DIE.
12_things is a finite system.
Once REGISTRATION is gone, you can't repeat the past.
[EXTRACT 08]
There is a version of this that ends in failure.
That does not change the value of the work.
Some things deserve to exist because they are true and different—not because they can be scaled indefinitely, reduced to content or kept alive long after the original idea has disappeared.
Make the thing.
Register its existence.
Let it leave.
INTERNAL CONCLUSION:
To be here.
To leave evidence.
To go silent.
